Ideal for couples looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life, this spectacular former lock-keepers cottage offers some of the best scenery in the whole of the Highlands. Set on the banks of the Caledonian Canal, Ardlussa is quirky gem with all the comforts of a home-from-home.
Boasting contemporary features (we love the lime green SMEG fridge and pink cladding in the cosy lounge!) the star of the show at Ardlussa is the deep, roll-top bath found at the end of the Master bed. Sink into this deep, bubbly tub after days spent exploring the lochs and glens of this sought-after Highland hotspot, before tucking into hearty, local fayre cooked up in your colourful yet cosy kitchen. The wood-burning fire in the lounge sets the scene for long nights of story-telling and star-gazing from the window-seat.
The fantastic location also adds to the charm of Ardlussa Cottage. The small hamlet of Gairlochy (where the cottage is found) is nestled on the southern shores of Loch Lochy amongst the grand Lochaber countryside, offering a tranquil location and picturesque scenery. Situated between the Commando Memorial and the Caledonian Canal, Gairlochy is surrounded by several other small crofting settlements. The Great Glen Way and the Great Glen Mountain Bike Trail can both be joined at this part of the canal via a 10 minute walk from the village, meaning easy access to unforgettable outdoor adventure. Fort William and the iconic Ben Nevis, Britain’s highest mountain, are also easily accessible in under 20 minutes drive.
Spean Bridge (approx 3 miles) – post office, shop, hotel, restaurants and 9 hole golf course.
Fort William (approx 12 miles) – offering a large range of shops, supermarket, hotels & restaurants.
